Living with art is an act that goes beyond simply looking or listening to something, but making an effort to try and understand what one may be experiencing. The role of the arts in the university community is to make available an atmosphere where the community is introduced to an assortment of artistic endeavors. This exposure gives community members an opportunity to become more educated in the arts, to help understand that there are various contexts in which art may have been produced, and to expand one's definitions of art.
The arts offer unique forms of communication that are connected to the human experience and offer to audiences various reflections of life. With continued encounters to a wide range of artistic communications methods, university community members can continue to build a more informed foundation for their own aesthetic understanding and enjoyment of the arts. After all, the arts enrich our lives best and promote personal growth and intellectual development when we experience, understand, and enjoy them as an integral part of the process of living both within and beyond the university setting.
